How to Ollie on a Skateboard

The ollie is a great place to start with skateboard tricks. It will help you learn other harder tricks once you perfect this trick. Here is how to perform an ollie to help you on the road to your skateboarding tricks.
Begin by positioning your feet with the back foot near the rear of the board. The ball of your foot on the tail of the skateboard. Your front foot is between the middle of the board and the trunks. After your practice this trick more you will probably find a more comfort foot placement. The ollie can be performed while rolling or while at a standstill.
Bend at the knees. The more bend of the knees the higher you will ollie. If the board moves too much when you do this consider tightening the trunks. Slam your back foot down on the tail.
This action creates the momentum for the ollie. At the same time as you slam your back foot down jump up in the air off the back foot as the tail of the skateboard hits the ground. This may take some practice.
Roll your front foot inward slightly while you are in the air. Use the outside of the foot to guide the skateboard as it is in the air. Drag your foot up the side of the skateboard. This allows you to guide the skateboard and to pull it higher using your shoe and grip tape.
After jumping in the air pull your knees as high as you can. Try to touch your knees to your chest. The higher your knees are the higher the ollie you will do. Keep your shoulders and body level as you are jumping and pressing your knees to your chest.
Avoid leaning towards either side of the skateboard so the landing will be easier. When you are your maximum jump height level out your feet to flatten the skateboard. This action prepares you for the landing.
Bend your knees as you are coming down on the skateboard to absorb most of the shock of the landing. When you bend your knees you wont hurt them during the landing.
