Skateboard Grind Tricks

Doing a front side grind is one of most simple grinds to do on a half pipe or a quarter pipe. It is the beginning for the other tricks that are more complicated.
Pump into a quarter pipe.
Begin your front side turn as you ride up on the lip of a ramp.
Lift the nose of the skateboard by stepping on the back of the board and raise up your front leg.
Roll the wheel up onto the pipe rail. Turn your skateboard and body as you grind on the rail with the back truck grinding on the rail. The front wheel should be tilted slightly in the air.
Twist your body back around while are grinding. Bring the board back down to on the ramp as if you are doing a simple front slide turn on the ramp. Be sure to keep balanced so your back wheel will come off the rail.
Your body position is very important to master the grind. Always keep your body centered.
Get enough momentum to begin the trick then drop back during the ride on the rail.
You can wax the rail with silicone or skate wax to reduce any friction allowing your grind down the rail faster.
Approach the rail at a 40-degree angle.
Pop your body up on the rail by lowering your body and bending your knees and lifting up the tail of the skateboard.
Center your weight on the rail and do not lean to either side. Your board will stick to the rail if you did not approach the rail slowly and it is not waxed.
Avoid leaning back too far when riding the rail. If you lean back too far you will fall off the rail and skateboard. If you lean forward too far you will fall on your face. Keep most of your weight on the tail of the skateboard.
